Well-known for her no-nonsense role as Lucy Diale on SABC 1’s Generations: The Legacy, Manaka Ranaka goes on Instagram to reminisce and celebrate her eldest daughter’s 20th birthday.
Ranaka goes back 20 years down memory lane to briefly recall the time she was given the cruel ultimatum to either keep her unborn child or keep her job as a relatively new actress as Nandipha Sithole in 2000 on one of South Africa’s now longest-running soapies, Isidingo.
According to the veteran actress, for her it wasn’t much of a tough decision to make as she was keen to keep and raise her daughter, Katlego who she seems quite proud to have kept despite the unforgettable either-or choice that was dished out to her reportedly by a female superior at the time.
Referring to Lauryn Hill’s 1998 album cut “To Zion” from her classic debut album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, she says the song kept her going when she felt the world was against them. She seems glad to have continued her pregnancy as she is now a mother of 2 (soon to be 3) and also a grandmother! It all sounds like a story that has positively come full circle, this comes as the 41 year-old is expecting her third-born child very soon and is seemingly excited with a positive attitude no matter the gender of the baby.
